Cairo Coaching Seminar a Big Success
The first ever IWSF Region coaching seminar took place in Cairo last week
from 18th - 21st April. 14 coaches from 6 countries attended as part of
the push by the Tournament Council of the EAME region to promote the sport
in new countries and to offer a coaching platform for those countries where
there is no formal coach qualification structure.
The four day seminar covered both the technical aspects of the sport as well
as coaching theory and methods, as well as looking at the physical and
organisational elements of the sport. All 14 attendees passed the 3 hour
coaching exam at the end of the course. The course was put together and
held by the members of the EAME Coaching Commission (CSC), Jean Michel Cau
(FRA), Maurizio Grillo (ITA) and John Wood (GBR) and was hosted by the
Egyptian Sailing and Water Ski Federation at their headquarters on the banks
of the Nile. IWSF President Kuno Ritschard also attended to see for
himself the coach education process the EAME CSC has adopted in trying to
promote the sport into new countries and to award the attendees their
certificate of achievement at the end of the course.
Preparations for next years Seminar are already in hand and this will take
place in Minsk, Byelorussia.
